Description

The dehydrator works very simply: a heating element generates heat according to the set temperature, which can range from 35° to 70°C. This heat is spread by a fan that generates a constant flow of air through the various perforated trays. Unlike natural drying in the sun, this gentle airflow means drying takes place more quickly and, above all, is not affected by the humidity in the air. In addition, the sun's rays alter some properties of food, for example light-sensitive vitamins and aromas.

Advantages of a horizontal vs. vertical dehydrator

  • with the motor at the back, the airflow reaches all trays and all foods evenly
  • the airflow acts simultaneously both above and below the food, making drying faster and more uniform
  • with this system you can load the trays fully, optimising space and consumption
  • the possible uses expand greatly, since with this type of dehydrator you can also: thaw food, make yogurt, cook steaks or meat in general at low temperature before finishing them on the embers.

What are the advantages of drying foods?

Undoubtedly the first advantage is that drying is one of the most effective preservation methods, with by far the longest storage times. Other advantages are:

EASE OF USE
It is a preservation system that is truly within everyone's reach, requiring no special technical or practical skills.
You just need to know how to use a knife to cut food and practise a little with different thicknesses, learning how differences in size and liquid content affect the length of the drying cycle.
LOW COST
This method of preservation does not require a fridge, a freezer or the additional cost of preserving produce in oil or vinegar.
In addition, by buying produce in season and having it available all year round, you avoid the price increases typical of out-of-season foods.
ECO-SUSTAINABLE
These dehydrators are designed to keep consumption as low as possible and are made of non-toxic, recyclable materials. By preserving seasonal food, you avoid having to buy products from distant areas where they are grown "out of season".
NATURAL
Drying is the most natural and least invasive method of preservation there is. All properties are retained and there are NONE of the typical alterations caused by adding preservatives or chemical additives to preserve colours and aromas.
VERY VERSATILE
The dehydrator was created for preservation, but it also has many other functions that make it a truly useful and indispensable tool for food lovers and beyond.

6 steel trays and more...

The 6 trays of the Vivo Dry H dryer are made of wide-mesh steel. Most importantly, they slide on special guides, so if necessary some of them can be removed to make preparations that need more space, such as yogurt.

The pack also includes 2 additional trays:

  • the one with narrow holes for drying foods such as spices or small herbs
  • the non-stick one, suitable for jellies, brittle or other preparations with liquid or gelatinous parts

Horizontal ventilation

The Vivo food dehydrator is equipped with a control unit that works together with sensors to optimise drying and consumption. In addition, the motor is placed at the rear to provide horizontal airflow that reaches all the food to be dried more evenly and effectively.

Thanks to this feature, drying times can be shortened by up to 30 percent compared to a vertical dryer and the results will definitely be better.

What can I dry?

Vegetables:any type of vegetable can be dried easily. Ideal therefore for those who grow their own vegetables and do not want to waste surplus produce that cannot be eaten fresh

Fruit:orchards also ripen quickly, making it impossible to eat all the fruit, so overripe fruit spoils and is wasted. By drying it, we can use 100% of the fruit we grow or buy

Mushrooms (and products available only for short periods): dried mushrooms are a speciality many people do not want to give up; drying them is very easy, and their flavour is even enhanced. As well as mushrooms, you can dry all those typical products that can only be found for limited periods or in certain weather conditions.

Aromatic herbs and flowers: Drying aromatic, medicinal and officinal herbs is a practice that dates back thousands of years. So for all lovers of herbal teas and infusions, this is a great way to preserve herbs. Flowers also lend themselves very well to infusions or to decorating or flavouring dishes or desserts.

Meat: Dried meat is not a very common product in Italian culture, but it is still very good and practical: you can simply eat it, or chop it and use it to season or flavour other dishes.

Fish:dried fish is a food mainly used and eaten in Eastern countries, but it is really delicious and can be used both to flavour fish soups and to make tasty snacks or elaborate dishes.

Fresh pasta:you can easily dry all kinds of plain or filled fresh pasta, shop-bought or homemade.
