Deco Vase
Deco vase by Venini
Description
Napoleone Martinuzzi 1930
It is the ’30s and Art Deco is sparking interest across Europe in an opulent ornamental style of new shapes, materials and hues. The Déco vase makes its entrance.
It captures the eye with its curving forms and never lets it go. The sophisticated exuberance of the Déco vases’ movement does not escape the viewer’s attention.
It bids farewell to the austerity of the early ‘900s.
“Rhythm: this is the word that defines the shape of Venini’s Déco vases.” The rings repeat one after another, growing, shrinking, then growing again. They seem to move like ripples in water, with waves and reflections. A movement that is a dance.
Technique: blown opaline, obtained by layering lattimo with other glass, blown and worked by hand
