Description
The playful pattern of the "Carte da Zogo" line by Geminiano Cozzi Venezia 1765 sums up the social life of the 18th century, when a great many gaming rooms and casinos flourished in Venice, places of leisure where the bourgeoisie and the aristocracy met regardless of rank.
The rare yellow-ground decoration of this dinner service is adorned with playing cards in red and black suits, scattered over much of the surface together with multicoloured day-flying butterflies.
