From the imperceptible beat of the heart to the turning of the Earth, all human life is connected to time and its cycles. The hourglass was created to capture a fragment and make it eternal.

The lightness and fleetingness of time are captured in glass by Fulvio Bianconi and Paolo Venini.

In 1957 they designed the Hourglass, later reinterpreted in 2015. The sand flows placidly into sand that has in turn been swiftly transformed into glass, a sign that change can be slow or sudden.
